Keystones is my first published collection of poetry. The book was released by Rising Phoenix Press in December 2014. The writing in this collection addresses topics such as impermanence, spirituality, love and Pennsylvania landscapes. I also explore subjects ranging from life in a steel town to Black Friday shopping. I attempt to connect with a sense of the divine while remaining grounded in everyday life in my poetry.
Overall, the collection contains 32 poems written during a three year period from 2012-2014. Many of the poems were inspired by stories and events from my childhood, and other events around my home town of Coatesville, Pennsylvania. Due to these connections, I named the collection“Keystones” to honor the individuals who inspired my work. The name is also an homage to Pennsylvania because the nickname of the commonwealth is “The Keystone State.”
